Blogging

To be successful on the internet, you need to generate original and authentic content. Content includes written words, photography and video. A blog is a great way to deliver one or more pieces of content. It's versatile.
A blog is also a method to build highly relevant links. Every blog article you write and publish on your website should contain one or more of the following types of links:
• A link to a relevant page within your website. (internal link)
• A link to a previously written blog article. (internal link)
• A link to a relevant, authentic and authoritative external website that supports the topic of your blog or provides additional information. (outbound link)
Each blog article should focus on a certain topic and a specific keyword, known as a focus keyword. Include the focus keyword in:
• The Article Title / Heading of your blog article.
• The URL of your blog article.
• The meta description of your blog article.
• The photo Alt Tag you include within your blog article.
• The Page Title of your blog.
• The content of your blog. (However, don’t overuse the focus keyword.)
Blog articles should revolve around the topics associated with your business. However, it’s also important to mix it up and write about other topics. These can include local events, local issues and other topics that people find interesting. To make your blogging easy, planning is essential. Determine what topics your blog posts will be about at the beginning of each month. Get employees to suggest ideas. You can even get your customers to suggest ideas by asking them in person, surveying them on your website, surveying them with an email marketing campaign or posting questions for comments on social media.
Over time, a blog that is properly implemented and maintained will usually generate a growing list of followers. That’s when your blog will jump to another level. Encourage followers to post comments and questions on your blog. Make sure to monitor those comments and respond to questions promptly. A blog that engages readers will often be shared by those readers with their network of contacts. Beneficial blog articles on interesting topics will also get referenced by other bloggers. This generates in-bound links to your website. That’s powerful!
When blogging, always remember to keep your personal opinions on controversial subjects to yourself. You never know how your opinions will be received. The purpose of your blog is to generate new business. Don’t take the chance of alienating business relationships you are trying to foster. It’s a good rule of thumb not to make blog posts about religion, politics and moral beliefs – unless that is the nature of your blog or business. If you’re a political blogger, you will obviously be writing about politics.
Finally, always be authentic and original with your blog articles. Never duplicate content from others or yourself.
A blog on your website will keep your website fresh and updated. It will also create “Authority” which is one of the Three Important Words to Remember. The time and effort you invest in your blog will be rewarded by the search engines with favorable organic rankings.
